SeaOrbiter: One giant leap for ocean exploration…
November 30, 2009 by alikat.
“(dailymail.co.uk)– It looks more like the Starship Enterprise sinking in the sea - but this huge vertical vessel could be the future of ocean exploration. Called the SeaOrbiter, the huge 51m (167ft) structure is set to be the world’s first vertical ship allowing man a revolutionary view of life below the surface.
Although currently only a prototype its inventor Jacques Rougerie thinks his international oceanographic station will soon be setting sail.” Read more

November 15, 2009 by alikat.
“(lifehacker.com)– A lot of people have been impressed with how you can find an app for everything. What about driving your car? With this (very) ambitious DIY project you can drive a car with your iPhone.
Why use your iPhone as merely an accessory to your car? You can flat out control it with this crazy DIY modification. Check out the video below to see how the mad scientists at Waterloo Labs modified a car—definitely not their daily mode of transport—to be controlled by an iPhone.”

LinkedIn and Twitter partnership
November 12, 2009 by alikat.
“(blog.linkedin.com)—Today [Nov 9] we’re announcing a partnership between LinkedIn and Twitter – and new features that we think are going to make both Twitter and LinkedIn more powerful for you.
The idea is simple: When you set your status on LinkedIn you can now tweet it as well, amplifying it to your followers and real-time search services like Twitter Search and Bing. And when you tweet, you can send that message to your LinkedIn connections as well, from any Twitter service or tool.” read more

SixthSense Creator Releasing Code for Super-Cool Wearable Gesture Interface Device
November 7, 2009 by alikat.
“(ostatic.com)– Remember the scene in the movie Minority Report where Tom Cruise uses hand gestures instead of a mouse to interact with a computer screen displayed on the wall? The idea isn’t really that far-fetched and software developer Pranav Mistry has been working on making it a reality.
Mistry is the creator of SixthSense, a wearable gesture interface that uses a camera and tiny projector to display data and information onto surfaces, walls, and even your hand. “ read more

Galactic Suites space hotel is on course for a 2012 debut
November 4, 2009 by alikat.
“(device.com)– Come 2012 (you know, providing the world doesn’t end) you may have another venue for booking a luxury hotel: space. That’s the hope of the Barcelona-based architects behind the Galactic Suites, anyway, who say that they are on track with building a space hotel. Each three-night stay at the Galactic Suites will cost a whopping $4.4 million, though that also gets you an eight-week training course on a tropical island. Hopefully you’ve let your vacation days pile up, because that’s a pretty big commitment.” read more

Seeing Is Believing…or is it?
November 1, 2009 by alikat.
“If you stare at the blinking pink dots, you will see only one color, pink. If you look at the + in the center, you’ll see a circle of pink dots and a rotating green dot. Now, stare at the + without moving your eyes…”
