Happy belated Pi Day!

“The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday (March 11, 09) approved a resolution introduced two days earlier that designates March 14, 2009 (3/14, get it?) as National Pi Day. It urges schools to take the opportunity to teach their students about Pi and "engage them about the study of mathematics." read the arcticle on cnet.com

‘Supermodel’ satellite set to fly

“Europe is set to launch one of its most challenging space missions to date.
The Goce satellite will map minute variations in the pull of gravity experienced across the planet.
Scientists will use its data to improve their understanding of how the oceans move, and to frame a universal system to measure height anywhere on Earth.
The super-sleek spacecraft will go into orbit on a modified intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in north-west Russia.
According to Reiner Rummel, Technical University of Munich, “This is the most beautiful satellite that has ever been built .” read the article

The following tidbit is not going to change your life, but it’s good to know:
If you browse to example.com, you’ll see the following:
“You have reached this web page by typing "example.com", "example.net", or "example.org" into your web browser. These domain names are reserved for use in documentation and are not available for registration. See RFC 2606, Section 3.”
And the RFT says:
“3. Reserved Example Second Level Domain Names
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) also currently has the following second level domain names reserved which can be used as examples.
example.com
example.net
example.org”
